Jadeite is type of jade, a fibrous aggregate composed of pyroxene minerals, mainly hard rock minerals. The main components of jadeite include hardstone, iron ore and so on. In ancient times, jadeite was a kind of bird living in the south with very beautiful colors, usually blue, green , red and so on. Generally this male bird is red, which is call ‘fei’. while the female bird is green, which is called ‘cui’.
Causes of jadeite formation
There are two views on the formation of jadeite in nature.
The first view: jadeite is the desilicification product of residual granitic magma intruded into ultramafic rocks under high pressure conditions.
The second view: jadeite is formed by the decomposition of primary sodium feldspar into hard jade during regional metamorphism. Or jadeite is formed when sodalite feldspar first formed blue amphibole schist and further metamorphosed into hard jade under the effect of pressure-torsional pressure and low temperature generated by plate collision.
The history and culture of jadeite
The Chinese ancestors created many patterns that are symbolic of the desired and pursuit of a better life. These auspicious motifs were carved into jadeite to express peace, good fortune and prosperity. China is obsessed with jade of all kinds and considers it a symbol of goodness. Both utensils, ornaments and matching stones are made of jade.
